“This is a super elegant and simple installation,” noted Hutchison, whose team faced and conquered the challenge of a three-foot elevation drop from the house to the planned pool area. In a brilliant display of resourcefulness, they repurposed excavated dirt to create the perfect foundation for the pool, transforming a potential obstacle into an opportunity for inspired design.

The installation features locally sourced Hartstone coping, adding both beauty and a connection to Kentucky’s natural resources. This exceptional stone is created in an underground cave in Louisville, where consistent 65-degree temperatures provide the ideal environment for crafting these premium materials. The handmade pavers, cured to perfection in the same facility, complement the standard concrete surrounding the pool, creating a cohesive and sophisticated look.
Perhaps the most striking feature is the bold fireplace, conceived by Hutchison himself. With its seamless design – no hearth, no cap – and black glass interior that echoes the Volcanic Black pool, it serves as a captivating focal point that anchors the entire space. “I really appreciate the fireplace for its bold look,” Hutchison shared. “It makes a strong architectural statement.”
