“The tanning ledge was important to the homeowners as it provides a safe and shallow place for their young kids to play without them having to get in the deeper waters of the pool,” explained Bobby Earley, Sales and Marketing Manager at Solid Structures. The ledge was incorporated after the initial design phase, showcasing the team’s adaptability and commitment to meeting client needs.

The installation includes several key features that enhance both functionality and ambiance. The pool operates with a saltwater chlorination system, providing a gentler swimming experience while reducing traditional chemical maintenance. Three strategically placed LED lights create beautiful nighttime ambiance, extending the pool’s usability into evening hours.

While the pool doesn’t include heating or a cover, the saltwater system and lighting package demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the Virginia Beach climate and the family’s usage patterns.

Every pool installation presents unique challenges, and this project was no exception. The backyard’s access required creative solutions, with Solid Structures using a crane to lift the pool through the large side yard and over the fence. Fortunately, the flat backyard terrain eliminated major excavation complications, allowing the team to focus on perfecting the design elements.

Stephen Miller, the Project Manager, played a highly integral role throughout the installation process, working closely with Aaron Robbins, Sales, and the design team to ensure every detail met the homeowners’ vision and expectations.

Additionally, the homeowners provided inspiration photos, which the design studio team used as a foundation for creating a cohesive outdoor environment that reflects the traditional aesthetic the family desired.

The company utilized Oculus Virtual Reality goggles, allowing the homeowners to walk through their future backyard in real time. Recognizing that these were first-time pool owners, Solid Structures provided comprehensive education through their pool school program. “As we do with all of our clients, we provide a pool school for them to educate them on everything from pumps and filters to salt systems and more,” noted Earley.
