Some projects come with a detailed wish list. Others arrive as an open invitation. When a central Pennsylvania couple reached out to Tim Wenrich, Vice President of Clearwater Swimming Pool Company in Centre Hall, Pennsylvania, they had exactly one instruction: do something amazing.

“They basically told me it was a blank canvas,” said Wenrich. “They didn’t really know exactly what they wanted or how it would fit into the backyard.”

What the couple did know was that they wanted a place to gather to host family and friends and finally make the most of their expansive rural property nestled at the base of a mountain. A pre-existing hot tub from Clearwater had already made them believers in the company. A pool felt like the natural next step.

That’s when the magic began, as Wenrich drew on his expertise and design savvy.

Initially, the backyard presented a real design challenge. A significant slope meant that simply dropping a pool into the space wasn’t an option. Wenrich assessed the property, listened carefully to the couple’s lifestyle and family dynamic, and got to work, not with a notepad, but with an understanding ear and a clear vision.

“I don’t actually go and take notes when I’m there,” he explained. “I listen to what the customer wants, what their family is like, their dynamic, and then I kind of get a feel for it. Afterwards, I put it down on paper and in the computer.”

When he returned with a full 3D design, the couple’s response was instant. Zero changes. They signed on the spot.

Located in Rebersburg, Pennsylvania, this project centers on The Bliss 35 from Imagine Pools in Ice Silver, a stunning choice that plays beautifully against the natural, rustic surroundings of the property. Saltwater and fully automated through a Jandy system, the pool was built for effortless enjoyment from day one.

Two multicolor LED lights illuminate the water, while three fountains add movement and drama. The centerpiece fountain, a 6-foot-wide showstopper, features LED lighting synced to match the pool’s own light show. Low-voltage color-changing lights on the surrounding walls and pillars complete the effect, turning the entire space into something spectacular after dark.

“They can put on a pretty good show at night,” Wenrich said.

An automatic pool cover rounds out the package, because a pool this well-designed deserves equally thoughtful protection.

the space around the pool

The pool didn’t arrive alone; it arrived as part of a fully realized outdoor retreat. Wenrich, who has 26 years of hardscaping experience, designed and built everything surrounding the water as well.

Porcelain tile covers the coping and patio areas, chosen not just for its beauty but for its practical advantage: no matter how hard the Pennsylvania sun beats down, it stays cool underfoot. Retaining wall blocks with a stone veneer face give the space architectural structure and a natural, organic feel. River jack, which is a chunky, smooth river stone, fills the surrounding ground areas, adding texture and tying the whole design together.

A prefabricated white-and-black pool house sits adjacent to the pool, housing all the equipment and automation. The property itself is fenced, expansive and secluded, complemented by the log cabin-style home in farm country, providing plenty of space for the crane Clearwater brought in to complete the installation.
